I treated myself to my own little kiln a few years back. And since then I have been on a very steep learning curve. Porcelain is one of the hardest clays to work with. So, I jumped in at the deep end and am attempting to self-teach myself along with a few YouTube videos and help from the wonderful Marlaine Verhelst, a wonderful doll artist.
I am currently enjoying making larger dolls, hand sculpted, as well as smaller ones using a mould I made from one of my polymer clay dolls heads. I also love using these moulded heads for teddies. At the moment the dolls are mainly hand painted using water colours. But I am learning to use China paints and am starting to incorporate these into the dolls.
